KARIN ANDERSON

Karin Anderson has been practicing employment law for over 15 years. She has successfully represented both private and public clients in court, at mediations and at settlement conferences. In addition to defending employers and managers against allegations of gender discrimination, sexual harassment, hostile work environment and equal protection claims, Ms. Anderson speaks at in-person training seminars and publishes articles on various employment-related matters.

Ms. Anderson is a member of the Employment Law Committee for the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel (IDC). She also writes featured articles for the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel’s Quarterly Magazine.

Ms. Anderson graduated cum laude from Harvard University and summa cum laude from DePaul University College of Law.

 
REPRESENTATIVE CASES INCLUDE:
  • Hoekstra v. City of Momence, et al., 17 CV 2040 (C.D. Ill., March 11, 2019) – Won summary judgment on all of police officer’s claims of age discrimination under the ADEA, violations of equal protection rights under §1983 and retaliation under Title VII.
  • Warren v. Kendall County Sheriff, et al., 15 CV 496 (N.D. Ill., July 27, 2018) – Secured jury verdict in favor of defendants on all claims after trial on federal claims of gender discrimination and retaliation under Title VII and violation of equal protection rights under §1983.
  • Harris v. Village of Calumet Park, 2013 WL 773016 (N.D. Ill., Feb. 28, 2013) - Won summary judgment on police officer’s claims of gender discrimination, hostile work environment and retaliation under Title VII and violation of equal protection rights under §1983.
  • Brown v. City of North Chicago, 11 CV 8935 (N.D. Ill. July 10, 2012) – Successfully defended federal claims of discrimination based on sex and sexual orientation and retaliation under Title VII.
  • Sopkin v. Yellow Book Sales, Inc., 07 CV 1475 (N.D. Ill. Jan. 15, 2008) – Successfully defended federal claims of gender discrimination and retaliation under Title VII filed by male employee.
